As a Senior Airman for the United States Air Force, Craig began his construction career erecting multiple facilities at Air Force bases across the country. In subsequent years, he has worked his way up the construction hierarchy with some of Northeast Ohio’s most respected companies. From renovating delicate MRI rooms to time sensitive retail banks to multimillion dollar, heavy highway projects, Craig’s experience is truly diverse. His extensive experience, coupled with an unmatched attention to detail, are how he consistently completes projects on time and within budget.
Over the course of his career, Ryan has overseen dozens of commercial construction projects with contract values near $300 million, accounting for more than 2 million square feet of space. A skilled estimator and project manager, Ryan has extensive experience with complex, fast-track projects for Health Care, Retail, Senior Housing, Multifamily and Higher Education. As TBC’s Chief Estimator, Ryan is instrumental in ensuring that our clients receive the specified quality and value for their finished projects.
With 30+ years of successful outside sales and sales management experience, Al serves in dual capacities as Business Development Manager and General Superintendent. Over the course of his career, Al’s worked exclusively within the construction industry, spending time with a commercial general contractor, and as a longtime sales representative for Pella Window & Door Co. Many of the skills that made him successful in business development—attention to detail, scheduling, organization—transfer to the projects he oversees. A proven team leader, Al thrives in intense, rapidly changing environments, a quality that serves his clients, team and projects well.
Brian’s spent the major of his 30+ year career as a Carpenter, but has also worked as a roofer and farmhand. Our longest serving carpenter (4+ years), Brian enjoys the variety and challenge of the trades. His specialties include acoustical ceilings and metal framing layouts. The project he’s most proud of is the ground up construction of AAA Akron Auto Club’s new headquarters, where he served as carpenter foreman from start to finish.
Specializing in trim carpentry, Chris has spent nearly 30 years in the trades, most of them as a Carpenter, but he’s also been a plumber and electrician. During his downtime, Chris enjoys being outdoors, indulging his metal detecting hobby.
New to carpentry, Chris previously installed ATM machines, Alarm, Camera and other telecom related systems. He’s most proud of his work on Canal Park’s multiple stadium improvement, where he and fellow Carpenters met a strict opening day deadline for the Akron RubberDucks' inaugural season. Away from work, Chris enjoys coaching his daughter’s soccer team and spending as much time outdoors as possible.
Formerly in roofing, Brandon’s been a Carpenter for 5 years. He’s extremely proficient at installing laminate flooring. In his off time enjoys playing guitar and spending time outdoors fishing.
Scott’s been a Carpenter for 17 years, primarily as a Fire/Water restoration specialist. His specialties include trim carpentry and kitchen layout and installation. The project he’s most proud of is Towpath Trail High School, where he served as superintendent for extensive interior and exterior renovations. In his downtime, Scott enjoys participating in martial arts, including Kendo/Laido, Ken Jutsu, Lai Jutsu and Tanto Jutsu.
Kurt’s been a Carpenter for 31 years and has served in multiple trades, including stints as a laborer, plasterer, mason and concrete finisher.
A jack-of-all-trades, Frank’s been a Carpenter for 30+ years, but has also spent time as a metal finisher. He’s particularly proud of his work for the Akron Summit County Public Libraries.
Relatively new to construction, Dylan has spent the past 2 years as a Carpenter. His areas of expertise include rough carpentry and hanging drywall. In his downtime, Dylan enjoys hunting and fishing.
Serving as a Project Engineer, Bill leverages his diverse commercial construction background, which includes project supervision and coordination, marketing communications (MarCom) support and commercial real estate services. Most recently, Bill was a MarCom consultant to A/E/C firms, implementing results driven strategies that differentiated his clients from their competition. Having spent significant time in field and management capacities, Bill’s areas of expertise include office tenant improvements, retail build-outs and tenant-in-place multifamily renovations. Bill also holds and maintains his Ohio real estate salesperson license.
Serving as Project Engineer, Jim is an analytical and detail-oriented professional with 10+ years of experience in leadership, project management, logistics, and strategic planning. His military values of hard work, loyalty, reliability and adaptability enable him to effectively build relationships and contribute to the overall goals of Tober Building Company.
Matt started working as a carpenter in high school and continued through college and for a little while after college as well. He changed careers to banking for six years before he returned to what he enjoys, carpentry. He is personally and professionally proud of all his work he did for Habitat for Humanity. After work he enjoys spending time with his family, hiking and biking, and taking an active roll at church.
Michael has been a carpenter for over 30 years. For the last 25 years he owned his own remodeling business. He specializes in design and construction. He loves finish work and communicating with customers.
In his spare time, he loves to be with his family and take cruises with his wife of over 30 years. They have adopted and raised 4 other children besides his biological 2 sons. He enjoys watching sports and hunting. He also has been on multiple mission trips to Central America to help build churches.
Before coming to Tober Building Company, Zach had an internship in the detail shop at the Team Challenge Rehab Center. Since then he has been working full time at Tober Building Company as a carpenter. He got all his experience in this trade from working with his Father, Mike Maynard, on and off for years before coming to Tober.
Zach spends his free time in the gym keeping himself healthy and strong. We are proud to have him on our team.
Bruce has 45 years of sales experience in the industrial packaging industry. He worked for 35 years with Sonoco Products before he retired in 2003. He started in field sales and moved up the chain to sales manager, then field sales manager and finally to strategic account manager until he retired. After he officially retired, he still stayed at Sonoco as a private contractor for 10 more years. As a private contractor he worked on special projects, assisted with rollout of new construction products, setup a warehouse in Ontario, Canada and recaptured the brand recognition for Sunoco Products in Canada. Bruce has also been married for over 50 years, has raised 3 children and now has 9 grandchildren. We, at Tober Building Company, are proud to have him apart of our team.
John has joined our group bringing in tow millions of square feet of industrial, military, commercial, residential, public, and retail experience. With over 3 million square feet of new and remodel construction totaling over 150 million dollars, John brings the knowledge of marketing and business development by being able to locate and track potential clients and projects, estimating and overseeing the construction of projects regardless of the size or scope. With John’s diverse experience in multiple arenas of construction types, he proves to be a key element in assisting us in achieving our goals and continuing our mission of our promise to grow long-term relationships based on respect, integrity, dedication and an unwavering work ethic, with our clients, employees, subcontractors and vendors and with the community.
Melanie graduated from Youngstown State University with a masters degree in chemistry. She worked as a senior researcher at The Cleveland Clinic in the Cell Biology department of the Lerner Research Institute. She also worked in safety and compliance at Amresco before coming to Tober Building Company.

Before coming to Tober Building Company, Russ Wills had a career in sales and managing production factories. He was the fabrication supervisor and rotor shop manager for 7 years at Metso Minerals Best. After, that he worked for Frameco DBA Metal Framing Industries as a plant manager and a project manager. During that time, he also took a job in sales and consulting for Medina County Welding. With Russ’s diverse and thorough background in manufacturing, he is a proven asset for Tober Building Company.
When Russ is not at work he is always on the go. He fills his free time up by playing and coaching his daughter’s teams and enjoying time with family and close friends.
Kimi was born and raised in Carmel, California and graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A in Spanish Language and Culture. She then attended and graduated Arizona State University with a Masters in Spanish. In 2002 she switched career paths and took a job in the marketing department for the J.M. Smucker Company. She continued her career at J.M. Smucker by crafting the Smucker Innovation Center, which opened in Feburary 2016. The Innovation Center was to build a facility that provides collaborative consumer and retail immersive experiences to help grow topline sales. It showcases the unique Smucker business approach, expertise, commitment to innovation is 1-2 day sessions with key retail partners. Kimmy also managed the design and construction of the 100,000ft facility which included salvaging and repurposing some of the original manufacturing plant, and she led the innovation center team and helped create the content and experience to establish JMS as a category and retail though leader in the Foof manufacturing business.
Kimi is married and has twin 1 ½ year old daughters, Penelope and Grace. She is also a proud parent of a Noah, a black poodle. She likes to explore the Cuyahoga Valley trails, run, and support local businesses.
Over the course of his 20-year career, Chris has worked his way up the construction ladder, serving as a Journeyman Carpenter, Foreman and Superintendent. As a superintendent, he believes in management through participation and visibility. In doing so, he gains invaluable project knowledge, and well-earned respect from onsite trades. During his career, Chris has contributed to scores of projects, with combined contract values into the tens of millions. Nevertheless, Chris brings unmatched organization and professionalism to every project, regardless of its scale or scope.
